The Outsider Poster.

To begin, we see an 'outsider' come alone into a seemingly deserted Town and on her arrival she sees a sign that represents danger and death, this enigma code makes us want to carry on watching and find out what has happened to the towns folk. The outsider then has an unfriendly encounter with some of the local men where they disrespect her. We are then introduced to the local coffin maker and we find out that he is the only person making a living from all of the deaths that have occurred in the Town. Another hostile meeting with the local men ends in the outsider either killing or seriously injuring them, this is an example of an action code.
Throughout 'The Outsider' we are introduced to Vladamir Propp's theory of 'character types'. Our apparent Villain would be the hostile men and our hero would be the outsider.
Some typical features that make this a horror film is inclusion of blood and gore, and the use of enigma codes in relation to the sign that suggests death in the town. Also the incorporation of a coffin maker is highly suggestive of death and negativity which closely relates to horror.

Starting A2 coursework.

For my coursework I am expected to create my own short film, as practice for this we have put ourselves into groups and have started making a thirty second long film. We were told to use the dialogue given to create the film and had to come up with a context to put the speech into.

The dialogue...
1: Do it.
2: I can't.
1: Just do it, I can't do it without you.

First day of A2!

We have now started our A2 Media lessons, last year we based our coursework on the magazine industry whereas this year our coursework will be based on the film industry.
